KAULA Rescue Cat Cafe & Hotel

KAULA is an adoption-focused rescue cat cafe and cat hotel on a hillside in Onaga, Nishihara, in central Okinawa Island. Opened in November 2024, it is home to rescued cats of varied personalities, from playful youngsters and kittens to lap cats and shy ones, and the cats living in the cafe can be adopted after the cafe checks the home environment and the match. Entry is charged by time and drinks are available, and socks must be worn in the cat room. The reception room sells cat-themed goods, baked sweets and handmade items. Cat care is partly done by members of an adjoining welfare workplace where people with disabilities work with the rescue cats. The cafe also offers cat boarding and pet sitting. It is closed on Mondays, Thursdays and public holidays, and the access road is easy to miss, so directions are posted on Instagram.
