Founded by sisters Luana and Bruna Paroni in 2019, inspired by their late cat Loui and a family love for coffee, the cafe features two distinct spaces: a welcoming indoor area adorned with feline-themed decor where guests can enjoy a diverse menu of specialty coffees, teas, cakes, and brunches, and the enchanting “Jardim dos Gatos” (Garden of the Cats), an outdoor sanctuary with a retractable roof designed for adoptable cats rescued by partner NGOs like Aprogato and Ampara Animal. For a modest fee of R$ 19,70, visitors can spend 30 minutes interacting with these well-cared-for kitties, who roam freely amidst custom furniture and toys, all while adhering to simple rules to ensure their comfort. Open Tuesday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and weekends from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Gateria offers a pet-friendly front area for dogs and accessibility features like an elevator platform, making it a delightful spot for coffee enthusiasts and cat lovers alike to relax, connect, and perhaps find a new furry companion.
