Il Gato Cat Café
Leon, Guanajuato2.8 mi / 4.6 km
Il Gato Cat Café is a rescue cat cafe on Valle de Atemajac in Valle del Campestre, in the north of León. It began as an extension of Fundación Pro Pet and works as a pre-adoption space, caring for around 30 rescued cats that live in two rooms: a front room with tables facing the street and a second lounge at the back. Visitors receive the house rules and hand sanitiser at the door, then order from a menu of coffee, frappés, shakes, ramen, burgers and sweet and savoury snacks, and can stay for several hours with the cats. Cat treats can be bought to feed them. Spending at the cafe funds the cats' care, and visitors who connect with a cat can apply to adopt it through the foundation. The cafe holds occasional kitten adoption days and themed evenings, and opens only in the evening from Wednesday to Saturday.

The cats are part of the household rather than adoption candidates. There is no separate entry fee: visitors order from a short menu of coffee, chai, frappés, baguettes, croissants and desserts and stay to spend time with the cats. The space is quiet and suited to reading or working. Children are welcome but must handle the cats gently, and the cafe hosts occasional workshops and themed events.

All of them are available for adoption: their names and profiles are posted on the walls, and adopters present an ID, proof of address and photos of the home, with follow-up by the city's animal protection institute (IMPA). The menu plays on cat names, from the CATpuchino and MEOWca to michi-molletes, salads, nachos and mini cakes, and there are board games for longer stays. House rules ask guests to let the cats come to them, and children must be accompanied by an adult. The cafe is open every day.
