Cats & Cups is Mechelen’s first cat cafe, located at Désiré Boucherystraat 7-9, 2800 Mechelen, Belgium, where guests can enjoy a cozy experience surrounded by feline friends. Open Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM—closed Sunday and Monday—this inviting spot, founded by Axelle Steenhouwer in April 2023, offers a menu of coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer, wine, soup, and homemade cakes. Partnering with Helga’s Poezenhuis Opvang and Pootjesparadijs, it serves as a temporary home for up to eight adoptable rescue cats, who roam freely in a space equipped with scratching posts and play towers. No reservations are required for its 30+ guest capacity, and Axelle, a trained animal caregiver with expertise in cat behavior, also provides workshops and tailored advice to support adoptions and feline well-being, making Cats & Cups a haven for coffee lovers and cat enthusiasts alike.
