The cool, air-conditioned room is kept softly lit with good music playing, and the cats, of several different breeds, are tame and sociable, quick to climb into laps and fall asleep. Entry costs around 100 baht per person. The cafe is linked to a cattery, so some of the cats are for sale. It also keeps pet spiders for fans of exotic animals, and the owner is happy to talk about them and take photos of brave guests holding one. Evenings are usually quiet, which gives visits an almost private feel, and the room is clean and odour-free.
Lazy Cats Cafe
Kanchanaburi
Lazy Cats Cafe is a long-running roadside cat cafe in Ban Tai, Mueang Kanchanaburi, on the same road as the town's post office. The shop is split into two zones: a cafe area with a bar counter where guests can watch the cats through the window, and a separate air-conditioned cat room. There is no entry fee, but each visitor buys something first, such as a drink at around 75 baht, before going in, and pots of cat treats cost 35 baht. True to the name, many of the soft, clean, sweet-smelling cats spend much of the day asleep, though the friendly sphynx is an exception and some cats will even give a paw. The cafe is known for its gelato and Thai tea, with coffee and cakes also on the menu, although the snack selection varies.

There is no entry fee and no time limit, but each guest orders at least one item from the menu of drinks, light snacks and simple dishes, which are priced on the higher side. Socks are required and can be bought on site, and lickable cat treats are sold for about 50 baht. Cat Home Cafe Ban Pong
Ban Pong, Ratchaburi
Cat Home Cafe is a homely cat cafe in Suan Kluai, Ban Pong district, Ratchaburi, where a large family of cats shares a compact room with visitors. There are so many cats that most guests do not manage to play with them all; they are used to people, greet everyone who comes in, and the sleepier ones simply carry on napping. The owners keep a close eye on the cats' care and are happy to offer advice to cat lovers. Entry costs 60 baht per adult and includes a sachet of lickable cat treat. Coffee, tea, ice cream and desserts are sold at gentle prices. The room is small for the number of cats and seating is limited, so it suits visitors who mainly come for the cats rather than a long sit-down. Free parking is available.
Fatcat Cafe CNX
Chiang Mai
Fatcat Cafe CNX is a small, air-conditioned cat cafe on Singharat Road in Chiang Mai's Old City. It sits right next door to a laundromat, so you can spend time with the cats while your washing runs. The cafe is home to eight famously chubby, soft-coated cats in a mix of colours and patterns, including a black cat and a lively young American Shorthair, and the owner makes an effort to bring the cats over to play. Entry costs 100 baht for an hour with the cats and includes a drink of your choice from the menu, such as iced peach tea or an Americano, and there are regular promotions for repeat visitors. To keep both the cats and small children safe, children need to be at least six years old. The corners of the room are rearranged often, so returning visitors usually find something new.
Meowmories Cafe
Chiang Mai
Meowmories Cafe is a small, homely cat cafe on Soi Thanin in Chang Phueak, just north of Chiang Mai's Old City and a short walk from Thanin Market. The room is compact and kept very clean, and its resident cats are plump, outgoing and used to visitors: most of them come straight over for attention, while one or two prefer to curl up and nap. The owner looks after the cats closely, and they are bathed and groomed regularly, so they are soft and smell fresh. Prices are kept low, with a discount for students, and the menu focuses on smoothies, fruit juices and other cold drinks. With its friendly owner and relaxed pace, it is an easy stop for anyone wanting an hour with sociable cats away from the busier tourist cafes in Nimman.
Cat's Alley Cafe
Chiang Mai
Cat's Alley Cafe is a relaxed neighbourhood cat cafe on Soi Mahidol 2 in Nong Hoi, south of Chiang Mai's Old City. Its cats were abandoned or stray cats that the owners took in, and around 14 of them now share a cosy space designed to feel like hanging out in the open area beneath a friend's traditional Thai house. There is no entrance fee; each visitor simply orders at least one item from the menu, which runs from coffee, tea and smoothies to bingsu, herbal jelly desserts and simple Thai dishes at fair prices. The cat zone is kept clean and free of smells, with air purifiers running, and the cats are well cared for, fluffy and full of character.
