Fancy Meow Cat Cafe
Rotorua, Bay of Plenty
Fancy Meow Cat Cafe is a cat cafe at 1210 Arawa Street in central Rotorua. It bills itself as Rotorua's first cat cafe and New Zealand's only cat cafe with purebred cats. Its resident cats include Ragdolls, a Persian, an American Curl, a Bengal and a British Shorthair; some were rescued or adopted and others came from breeders. Visits are 50-minute sessions. In October 2026 entry started at NZ$13 for children aged 2 to 11 and NZ$18 for teenagers and adults, and extra time cost NZ$8 per 30 minutes. Booking online is recommended, as weekend, school-holiday and public-holiday sessions usually fill up, and walk-ins are let in only when there is space. The cafe sells hot and cold drinks and gelato but no food, and only drinks bought there may be taken into the cat area. Children are welcome, with at least one adult for every three children under 12. Drinks are handed through a window into the cat room, which also has massage chairs.
