Coffee and the Cats

Coffee and the Cats is a family-run cafe on East Saint Patrick Street in Rapid City that opened in April 2024. It serves specialty coffee, tea, mocktails, soups, sandwiches and desserts, and has a separate cat room, the Kitty Cove, where visitors can book 30 minute sessions to snuggle and play with adoptable cats from the Humane Society of the Black Hills. Anyone is welcome to visit the cats, whether or not they plan to adopt, and adoptions go through the humane society. The business has grown into a wider venue with the Emporium, selling antique books, gifts, comics and handmade goods, and a Mini Mewseum with exhibits on the history and science of cats. It hosts frequent events, including art nights, murder mystery dinners, dinner theater, silent film screenings and a chili cook-off.
