O ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌‌​​‌​‌‌​​‌‌‌‌‌‌​‌‌‌‌​‌​​‌​​‌‌⁠Porto dos Gatos is a vegan cat café on Avenida de Rodrigues de Freitas in Bonfim, Porto, a short walk from Campo 24 de Agosto metro station and the Municipal Library. Opened in March 2018 by Fátima Meireles and Joana Rocha, it is run together with their rescue association, Vida de Gato, and has rehomed more than 300 cats. Around a dozen rescued adult cats, some with disabilities, live in a dedicated cat room with toys and climbing trees and in an enclosed garden courtyard with tables. The front dining room is kept free of the café cats and welcomes visitors' own pets. There is no entry fee; visitors order from an entirely vegan menu of brunch dishes, cakes, light meals and vegan francesinhas. All the cats can be adopted after an application, an interview and a home delivery by the founders.

Coimbra

Pet ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌​​‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​​​​‌​​‌‌‌‌​​​​‌⁠& Tea is a cat café on Rua João Cabreira in the Baixa, Coimbra's old downtown, a few minutes on foot from Praça 8 de Maio. Opened in March 2017, it is the oldest cat café still operating in Portugal. The building is divided into a pastry café, a reading room with a small pet shop, and a separate cat room behind glass, so customers can eat without contact with the cats and watch them from the main room. The cat room holds rescued cats waiting for adoption alongside a few resident cats, and kittens appear regularly. Access to the cat room is paid separately and is limited to a small number of people at a time. The menu covers coffee, bubble tea, smoothies, crepes, pancakes, cakes and burgers. Visitors' own pets are welcome in the café areas but not in the cat room.
