Mačkáreň is an adoption cat cafe on M. R. Štefánika Street in the centre of Pezinok, a wine town north-east of Bratislava. It is run by Happy Paws, a rescue association founded in 2018 that takes cats off the streets, treats and neuters them and looks for new homes; cats in its care stay at the cafe while they wait for adopters. The front room is a regular cafe for guests who prefer not to sit with cats, while the cats live in a separate room at the back where visitors can also have their drinks. The menu offers locally roasted coffee, a wide choice of teas and wines, hot chocolate, homemade cakes and vegan options, and treats for the cats can be bought at the counter. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and the cafe also runs a charity bazaar.
