Maison de Moggy
Edinburgh
Maison de Moggy is Scotland's first cat cafe, opened in Edinburgh in early 2015 and now on West Port, just off the Grassmarket below Edinburgh Castle. Its resident cats are pedigrees raised by the owners from kittens, and the cafe is their permanent home. The current group of about ten includes Maine Coons, Ragdolls, Norwegian Forest Cats, British Shorthairs and Oriental Shorthairs, and retired cats go home with the owners. The cats have climbing trees, netting walkways and a private bedroom away from visitors. Visits are one-hour sessions with an entry fee, run seven days a week with short breaks between sessions, and booking ahead is recommended. Guests must be 10 or older, with one adult per child aged 10 to 14. Tea, coffee and cakes baked off site are served, and a Cat Nanny is on duty during sessions. Cats must not be picked up or fed.
