Catfetín Cat Café
Cusco
Catfetín Cat Café is a cat cafe and adoption centre on the second floor of Calle Maruri 320 in Cusco's historic centre, a short walk from the Plaza de Armas. It describes itself as Peru's first cat cafe. The cafe serves organic Peruvian coffee, homemade desserts, crepes, brunch and lunch, and next to it is the Zona Michi, a separate cat room where rescued cats waiting for adoption roam among visitors, who can also play board games, read or colour. Entry to the cat room is a small fee per hour that goes entirely to the cats' care, with room for 15 people at a time. Reservations are made on the website, and late arrivals may lose their slot. The minimum age is eight. More than 230 cats have been adopted, including cats with physical disabilities, and the cafe's income also funds free sterilisation campaigns for cats in low-income communities.
