Cat World (貓世界) is a licensed cattery with a cafe attached, on Zhongzheng Road in Changhua City, opposite the county police headquarters. The three-storey house is given over to its pedigree cats, a large group that has been put at close to fifty, with plenty of ragdolls among them. They roam the seating areas, counters and climbing frames on every floor, while young kittens rest in a separate glass-fronted room. The cattery also sells kittens. Entry is charged by time and includes a drink, and booking ahead is recommended. Visitors change into slippers at the door and must wear socks. Children under nine, pets and outside food are not allowed, and human food must never be given to the cats. The menu is simple: coffee, sodas and other drinks, toast, pizza and small cakes.

Yuanlin, Changhua County

Tai Zhi Yin (泰之飲) is a small, casual Thai restaurant on Zhongzheng Road in Yuanlin City, Changhua, that bills itself as a cat-friendly eatery where you can eat and then play with the cats. Several resident cats live in the dining room and wander between the tables, and they are used to being stroked; regulars come back as much for the cats as for the food. The owner is Thai and cooks homestyle dishes without MSG: green curry, pad thai, basil pork, Ayutthaya boat noodles, shrimp cakes and Thai milk tea, at budget prices and in generous portions. Anyone who is nervous around cats is advised to order takeaway. It is a relaxed, family-friendly place rather than a structured cat cafe: there is no entry fee or time limit, and payment is in cash only.

Yuanlin, Changhua County

Village Bella (鄉村貝拉貓餐廳) is a Mediterranean-style cat restaurant on Sanmin Street near Yuanlin Station in Changhua, which has been running for about ten years. The ground floor is the dining room. Upstairs is the cat room, home to a group of seven or eight resident cats, several of them long-haired, who are used to people and happy to be stroked. To go up, settle your bill first, then change into indoor slippers and sanitise your hands on the stairs. You may stroke the cats but not pick them up or chase them, and flash photography is not allowed. Treats for the cats are sold at the counter. The menu is mostly pasta and risotto, with set-meal add-ons, brunch plates, fried snacks, honey toast, soufflé pancakes and ice cream. There is a minimum spend of NT$100 per person and a 90-minute limit, and children are welcome.

Yuanlin, Changhua County

Xiao Mao Mu Mu (小貓沐沐), formerly known as A Bit Cat, A Bit Interesting (有點貓有點意思), is a small cat cafe in a townhouse on Xianghe Street in Yuanlin City, Changhua, which now also offers astrology readings. A handful of calm resident cats share the bright, homely room, and some will hop onto a lap, but this is a quiet place to spend time with a few cats rather than a crowd of them. Read the rules posted outside, then ring the bell. Shoes come off and socks are required, and hands are sanitised at the door. Children under eight are not admitted, and the cats must not be fed, picked up or chased. There is a minimum order per person and a 90-minute limit; booking ahead is advised. The menu includes honey toast, soufflé pancakes, lasagne, s'mores skillets, matcha lattes and coffee.
