Cat Haven Cat Cafe
Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Cat Haven Cat Cafe is part of the new home of Cat Haven, Baton Rouge's oldest rescue dedicated only to cats, on Shadows Lane at the eastern end of Mid City, near Airline Highway. The nonprofit, founded in 1999, has rehomed more than 23,000 cats, and its new 7,200-square-foot building replaces the old shelter on North Harrells Ferry Road. It has a cage-free adoption area with room for 125 cats and kittens in more than 23 separate living spaces, a surgical suite and the city's first cat cafe, where visitors can have coffee or tea and spend time among adoptable cats. The cafe is meant for cat lovers in general, not only people looking to adopt, and adoptions follow Cat Haven's application process. The facility opens with a free public grand opening and tailgate party in late October 2026; session prices and regular cafe hours had not been announced.
