Koteynaya
Ufa, Bashkortostan
Koteynaya is a cat anticafe on 50 Let Oktyabrya Street in Ufa, next to the BGAU stop by the Bashkir State Agrarian University. Opened in September 2016, it was the city's first cat cafe. A large group of cats taken in from local shelters lives there, and any of them can be adopted after talking to the curator. Visitors pay an entry fee that covers the first hour and are then charged by the minute up to a daily cap, with tea and biscuits included; board games are available, and souvenirs such as calendars with the resident cats are sold. Staff tell visitors about each cat's story and character, and the cats are usually most sociable in the mornings. Booking is advised at weekends. The cafe can be hired for birthdays, and it hosts workshops and talks. It is closed on Mondays.
