Purrs ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌​‌‌​‌​​‌​‌​​‌​‌‌‌​​​​​​‌​‌​‌⁠& Beans is a cat cafe at 188 Hinemoa Street in Birkenhead, on Auckland's North Shore, down a driveway beneath the Our House Community Centre. It opened in 2015 as BaristaCats Café in central Auckland, was renamed when it moved to Birkenhead in 2020, and calls itself New Zealand's longest-running cat cafe. It is home to 12 resident rescue cats, mostly older and some with special needs. A separate foster room, the Mightycat Adoption Room, houses cats from Gutter Kitties, Crazy Cat Lady Cat Rescue, Stray Whiskers and 9 Lives Orphanage, whose adoptions the cafe handles, with the fees going to the rescues. General entry sessions last up to an hour at set times with limited places; in October 2026 one cost NZ$26.50 per person, and booking ahead is strongly recommended. Under its SPCA welfare plan only guests aged 10 and over may enter the cat area, and 10- to 14-year-olds must come with an adult. The cafe serves drinks and afternoon-tea snacks and runs movie nights and craft afternoons with the cats.

Cat ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌‌‌​‌‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​‌​​​​‌​‌‌‌​‌​​⁠Castle Cat Cafe & Hotel is a cat cafe on Lake Road in Devonport, on Auckland's North Shore, run by the Furry Friends pet business, which also runs a cattery there. It bills itself as the first cat cafe in Devonport and the first themed cat cafe in New Zealand. More than 15 cats and kittens live there, and some are available for adoption: staff say which ones, and visitors fill in an adoption form after meeting them. The cat area is upstairs and visits run in sessions, so booking is essential and walk-ins may have to wait. In October 2026 a one-hour entry with a drink and a cat treat cost NZ$35 for adults (16 and over) and NZ$27 for children aged 2 to 15, and a two-hour adult pass cost NZ$45. On Mondays and Tuesdays a 45-minute online-only special cost NZ$20. A yearly membership costing NZ$35 cut a one-hour entry to NZ$15. The cafe hosts birthday parties and other private events. It replaced Furry Friends' earlier Mini Cat Cafe in Mairangi Bay.

Catfe ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌​​‌‌‌​​‌‌‌​‌‌​​‌​​⁠Mao is a cat cafe at 240 Broadway in Newmarket, Auckland, where cats live in an upstairs lounge and the cafe works to rehome them. Places are reserved online and paid for in store. In October 2026 a 50-minute ticket cost NZ$25 per person or NZ$20 for children under 14, and extra time cost NZ$15. Each ticket included NZ$8 towards a drink from the menu or the fridge, served from the bakery downstairs. Drinks may be taken into the cat area but food may not. Children under 14 must come with a paying guardian. Guests are asked to arrive 10 minutes early, as a booking may be cancelled if they are more than 5 minutes late, and changes need at least 3 hours' notice. A 15% surcharge applies on public holidays, and booking ahead is recommended at weekends and in school holidays.
