NEKO Bellingham
NEKO Bellingham is a cat cafe on Cornwall Avenue in downtown Bellingham, the sister location of NEKO on Capitol Hill in Seattle. It opened in 2020 and is home to about 20 to 25 rescue cats, almost all of them adoptable, with a few permanent residents. The front of the cafe is a cat-free space serving coffee, beer, cider, seltzer, sodas and light snacks, with windows into the cat room. Visitors who want to spend time with the cats pay for a 45-minute cat room session, best booked online, with walk-ins taken when there is space. All ages are welcome, with adult supervision rules for children. NEKO also runs longer work and study sessions, private room bookings for up to 20 people and cat yoga classes. Adoptions are handled in-house after an application and interview, and the space is fully accessible.

RAPS Cat Sanctuary

The RAPS Cat Sanctuary is a large cat sanctuary run by the Regional Animal Protection Society on No. 6 Road in East Richmond, behind Phoenix Perennials. It is home for life to several hundred cats who are unlikely to be adopted elsewhere, including seniors, former ferals, shy cats and cats with FIV, leukemia or other chronic conditions, many of whom roam freely through the buildings and outdoor enclosures. The public can visit on weekend afternoons with a paid ticket, best bought in advance, and is asked to keep visits to about an hour. Children under 6 are not admitted, and children under 13 must be supervised. Not all cats are friendly, so visitors ask before touching, let the cats approach and bring no treats. Alley Kats Deal Den & Kitty Lounge
