La Main à la Patte
La Main à la Patte is a cat cafe and tea room on Rue Jean-Pierre Veyrat in the centre of Chambéry. Opened in autumn 2024, it hosts cats from the association L'Arche de Siena, and all of them are up for adoption, so the number of cats in the room changes as they find homes; usually around five to seven are present. The cats wander freely and come to visitors when they choose. There is no entry fee; visitors order from a menu of Illy coffee, Dammann teas, hot chocolates and homemade pastries such as cookies, madeleines and fruit tarts, and the drinks list also has cocktails, local beer and kombucha. Tables can be booked by phone. People come to read, work or meet friends, and families are welcome.

Kattkrogen, which calls itself the cat tavern of Grenoble, is a small cat cafe on Place Claveyson in the pedestrian streets of the old town, a short walk from Place Grenette. Its name is Swedish for cat tavern, and the cosy interior has stone walls, walls papered with old book pages, board games and books. Three resident cats, Jaurès, Logan and Hope, live in the cafe and come and go among the tables. Neko Café
Grenoble, Auvergne Rhone Alpes27 mi / 44 km
Neko Café is a cat cafe and tea room on Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the pedestrian centre of Grenoble. Opened in 2016, it was the city's first bar à chats, and it reopened on 12 September 2026 under new owners with a new group of six sociable resident cats after the previous cats retired to homes of their own. The cats live freely in the cafe and visitors are their guests, with house rules that let the cats choose when to approach. Visitors order from a menu of teas, coffees, hot chocolates, Japanese-inspired sweets such as mochi, and light food. The cafe also sells Japanese groceries and kawaii gifts. At busy times visitors may have to wait briefly outside for a seat, as turnover is fairly quick.
Féline Idée
Annemasse, Auvergne Rhone Alpes46 mi / 74 km
Féline Idée is a restaurant and cat cafe on Rue Paul Bert in central Annemasse, close to the Swiss border and Geneva, and the only one of its kind in Haute-Savoie. Opened in June 2021, it hosts cats from the Refuge de l'Espoir in Arthaz, and the cats are available for adoption under the refuge's own conditions. Guests disinfect their hands on arrival and are seated in a dining room where the cats roam, nap and sometimes show interest in the plates. The kitchen serves homemade lunches and dinners with nothing frozen, plus desserts and an afternoon menu, and drinks come from local and organic suppliers. Children under 12 are not admitted, a rule set by the departmental authorities.

Le GentleCat
Lyon, Auvergne Rhone Alpes54 mi / 87 km
Le GentleCat is a cat cafe, tea room and restaurant on Rue Auguste Comte in Lyon's 2nd arrondissement, in the Ainay quarter a few minutes' walk from Perrache station and the Ampère–Victor Hugo metro stop. About ten resident cats and a rabbit live in the cafe and move freely between its rooms, sofas and mezzanines, so each has its own corner; the owners trained in feline behaviour and keep clear house rules such as not waking, carrying or feeding the cats.
