疍宅 Egghost
Egghost (疍宅) is a dessert cafe in an old two-storey house at No. 176, Sanyuan Street in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, roughly 12 to 15 minutes on foot from Xiaonanmen or Guting MRT stations. It moved here in 2024 from near Xingtian Temple. Two or three resident shop cats wander between the tables, including a tabby called Lilu and a friendly white short-legged cat, and they are a large part of why people come; the cats are not up for adoption. The house has a spiral staircase, a photo-booth room and a quiet study area. You order and pay at the counter before sitting down, and each guest orders at least one drink; in October 2026 a latte cost NT$170 and slices of chiffon cake NT$230 to NT$260. Only the second floor can be booked online, with a minimum spend of about NT$400. Opening hours are noon to 8 PM from Monday to Thursday and noon to 11 PM from Friday to Sunday, but the cafe closes on several weekdays each month, often Tuesdays and Thursdays, and posts its closing days in its Instagram bio. It asks customers to contact it through its official LINE account rather than Instagram messages.

The cafe also keeps small dogs, including Pomeranians, and a few lizards, so it suits visitors who like a mix of animals. It is one of the busiest cat venues in the city, so expect a wait at peak times. Visitors should follow the staff's guidance when interacting with the animals.
