Coffee Cat

Coffee Cat is Paraguay's first cat cafe, opened in 2023 in Barrio Jara, Asunción, at the corner of Teniente Segundo Benigno Villamayor and Luis Morales, behind the Universidad Americana. Founded by María Lourdes Pérez Toranzos, it combines a specialty coffee shop decorated with cat murals with a catio, an enclosed cat area where visitors spend time with the resident cats, all rescued and chosen for their calm, sociable temperament. Visitors enter the catio in socks after taking off their shoes, and the cats have monthly vet checks. The resident cats are not up for adoption, but kittens abandoned at the cafe's gates are cared for and rehomed, and the cafe donates food and supplies to shelters. The seasonal menu includes breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes such as mbejú, cakes and slow-brewed coffee. People also come to work remotely, and the cafe hosts birthdays and cat-themed markets.
